AP innovatively and sustainably in Germany
Special profiles are all those profiles which stand out in their special form and are therefore individually adapted to the special application.
Everything that is not round or square/rectangular!
Applications
Special profiles are required as sealing in the following industries:
- vehicle construction
- electrics
- lighting technology
- caravan
- technical trade
- air conditioning and filter technology etc.
Production
Our special profiles are manufactured with the most modern tool technology and equipment technology.
On request or according to your technical drawing we can design the perfect profile with you and design it with our tool/mouth piece according to the profile requirements and specifications.
Sponge rubber properties
Sponge rubber has a predominantly open-cell structure.
Thus, it has a special position within the cell elastomers because during its deformation no mass expansion takes place due to open pores. Sponge rubber is gas and liquid resistant due to its shaping skin.
Our sponge rubber profiles have a high pressure elasticity combind with a particularly good resilience and are open- heated and continously produced by salt bath or microwave vulcanisation.
Even under light pressure the profile immediately clings tightly to all surrounding walls and sealings. Our sponge rubber profiles are made of high quality compounds according to specific recipes.
Density
The pressure behaviour of the sponge rubber profile results in demand for soft profiles for light closing pressures and firmer profiles for stronger pressure. By appropiate mixtures and changes of the specific weight (density) we can influence the softness and compressibility of the sponge rubber profiles and make our sponge rubber a perfect sealing and damping material.
Vulcanisation
All sponge rubber profiles have a closed outer skin and are cellular inside.
The mixture consists of raw rubber and chemicals (e. g. a blowing agent, filter and oil). In continous, free-heated vulcanisation, the blowing agent inflates the compound and gives the rubber the permanent character of elasticity.
Shaping
By using appropiat mouth pieces, it is possible to produce special profiles with a wide variety of sizes and shapes.
- semicircular profiles
- flag profiles
- hollow chamber profiles
- hose profiles
- roller door and finger protection profiles
- facade profiles
- sealing grommets for edge protection
The profiles are subject to tolerances according to DIN ISO 3302-1 E3! Special tolerances E2 on request.
Lenghts- frames- rings
Sponge rubber profiles are delivered in fixed lengths – packed on spools or in bundles- according to the cross-sections. We also supply sponge rubber profiles in any desired length ready for installation, even in the smallest sections.
Rectangular frames are glued together in our manufacturing section using AP-CA adhesive to provide adurable and clean joint. This is a proven and inexpensive solution for sealing large openings in containers, housings, etc. as no large investments in tools are required.
Colours
All foam rubber profiles are usually supplied in black – similar to RAL7021. Special colours such as light grey are partly possible on request.
Qualities
The quality of special profiles is also adapted to their intended use.
The EDPM quality is especially adjusted to ozone and high weather resistance and is therefore mostly used,
There is also a nitrile quality/ NBR or CR for certain demands on resistance to mineral oils and some hydrocarbons.
CR- chloroprene rubber
high flame retardance, good resistance to ozone, weathering, chemicals and ageing
NBR- Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber
good resistance to petrol, mineral oils and greases
EPDM- Ethylene-propylene-diene rubber
high resistance to ageing and ozone, good resistance to heat and chemicals
Fire protection compliant special qualities or FDA qualities on request.
