Sealing profiles

Sealing profiles are a combination of PVC edge protection profiles with bonded sponge rubber profiles. They have an extra function compared to normal edge protectors: They cover sharp edges and also have a sealing function.

Production

The production is very similar to edge protection profiles. As an extra, the sponge rubber tubes get glued to the profile with our professional cyan-acrylate glue.

Our latest type of edge protection profiles has a plastic insert made of POM. The profiles are mostly made of PVC, but we also extrude profiles in TPE, silicone and EPDM material.

Our rubber profiles are manufactured from high-quality EPDM compounds according to a specific recipe on modern production lines.

Hardness

PVC profiles are adjustable in the hardness range of 60-85 degrees. Profile hardness are measured in Shore A (usually +/- 5 °=. Special qualities are manufactured on request.

Shaping

By using appropiate “extrusion mouth pieces” profiles with a wide variety of cross-sections can be produced. Extrusion profiles made of PVC and/or TPE are usually subject to tolerances according to DIN ISO 16941, sponge rubber profiles according to DIN ISO3302-1 E3.

Variety of possible solutions

A wide variety of EPDM sponge rubber sealing profiles can be subsequently bonded to a base edge protection profile. This allows a large number of new sealing profiles to be produced.

AP Tool production

Our extrusion mouth pieces are drawn and developed in our own tool shop and running on the corresponding extrusion line.

Profile calibration of POM profiles

All AP profiles with plastic insert are now produced using state-of-the-art technology with profile calibration whereby we use a calibration table unit directly downstream of the extruder.

The melting starting material is fixed exactly or the later product dimensions by a channel. Deformation is not possible afterwards. The profile cools down in the cooling section below. In line, the prefabricated raw profiles are fed into a special punching machine which gives rhe profile its structure and flexibility.

Manufacturing into rings, frames and lengths

All profiles are packed in fixed lengths on spools or in bundles. The delivery length is generally 100 m with large- volume profiles correspondingly less.

In addition, we supply profiles in almost any desired length ready for installation even in the smallest sections. Larger glued and rectangular frames can be glued from profiles ina durable and clean way by means of special glue on joint or by means of hut vulanisation.
