Sponge rubber characteristics

Sponge rubber has a predominantly open-cell structure.

It has a special position within the cell elastomers because during its deformation no mass expansion takes place due to open pores.

Sponge rubber is gas and liquid resistent due to its shaping skin.

Our sponge rubber profiles have a high pressure elasticity combined with a particularly good resilience and open- heated and continously vulcanised through a salt bath or microwave hot air.

Even under slight pressure, the profile immediately adapts firmly tothe environment and seals. Our foam rubber profiles aremanufactured from high-quality raw rubber compounds accordingto specific recipes.

density

The pressure behaviour of the sponge rubber profile results in thedemand for soft profiles for light closing pressures and firmerprofiles for stronger pressures. By appropriate mixtures andchanges of the specific weight (density) we can influence thesoftness and compressibility (ZD) of the sponge rubber profiles andthus make our sponge rubber a perfect sealing and dampingmaterial.

We produce a soft sponge rubber quality (04) and a harder quality(06). Other qualities or special qualities can be produced on request. Excellent elasticity and special resilience make our foam rubber aperfect sealing and damping material.

vulcanisation

All cellular rubber profiles have a closed outer skin and are cellularinside.
The uncured mixture consists of raw rubber and chemicals (e. g. ablowing agent, filler and oil). During vulcanization, the blowingagent inflates the compound and gives the rubber its permanentelasticity.

shaping

By using appropriate mouthpieces, sponge rubber profiles with awide variety of cross-sections can be produced. The profiles aresubject to tolerances according to DIN ISO 3302-1 – class E3! E4available on request.

Self-adhesive equipment

For many assembly works with sponge rubber seals there is a desirefor a self-adhesive coating. We supply sponge rubber profiles withself-adhesive equipment as an assembly aid and as reinforcedbonding by means of special heat treatment.

Lengths – Frames – Rings

Sponge rubber profiles are supplied in fixed lengths – in rolls, onspools or packed in bundles. The delivery length is generally 25 m,with large-volume profiles correspondingly less. We also supplysponge rubber profiles in any desired length ready for installation, even in the smallest sections.
Larger glued rings and rectangular frames are glued together in ourin-house production from sponge rubber profiles in a durable andclean way using AP-CA glue. This is a proven and inexpensivesolution for sealing large openings in containers, housings, etc. , asno large investments in tools are required.

colors

All foam rubber profiles are usually supplied in black – similar to RAL7021. Special colours such as light grey or beige are partly possibleon request.

Qualities

The quality of special profiles is also adapted to their intended use.

The EDPM quality is especially adjusted to ozone and high weather resistance and is therefore mostly used,

There is also a nitrile quality/ NBR or CR for certain demands on resistance to mineral oils and some hydrocarbons.

CR- chloroprene rubber

high flame retardance, good resistance to ozone, weathering, chemicals and ageing

NBR- Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber
good resistance to petrol, mineral oils and greases

EPDM- Ethylene-propylene-diene rubber

high resistance to ageing and ozone, good resistance to heat and chemicals

Fire protection compliant special qualities or FDA qualities on request.
